Currency Strength Today, 30 October 2026: The Dollar Sinks To The Bottom Of The Board. So Why Is Gold Falling Too?
This currency strength today read starts with a scorecard.
In yesterday’s currency strength read, the GBPNZD buy from 2.36991 was a fresh ticket sitting right at its entry. Overnight it reached Target 1 and Target 2, and its trailing stop now sits 23.6 pips in front of the entry.
Today the board has a new headline. The US dollar has dropped from the middle of the board to the very bottom. It now scores as weak as the Canadian dollar scores strong, and it is weaker than six of the seven currencies it trades against.
And yet gold, which usually rises when the dollar falls, is falling too.
Below is what changed since yesterday, today’s ranking, the live tickets, the pair we are watching, what the dollar is really doing, and what gold and silver say.
1. What Changed Since Yesterday
The Ranking
| Group | 29 October | 30 October |
|---|---|---|
| Strongest | CAD and AUD level, then GBP | CAD, then CHF, then GBP |
| Weakest | EUR, then JPY and NZD | USD, then EUR and NZD |
| Middle | USD and CHF | AUD and JPY |
Three moves stand out. The US dollar fell from the middle to the bottom. The Australian dollar fell from the top to the middle. And the Swiss franc climbed from the middle to second place.
Yesterday’s Tickets, Checked
| Pair | Chart | Ticket | Entry | What happened |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GBPNZD | H1 | BUY | 2.36991 | Targets 1 and 2 reached, still running |
| CADCHF | H1 | BUY | 0.59094 | Target 1 reached, then closed at its trailing stop in front of the entry |
| GBPCAD | H1 | SELL | 1.86710 | Target 1 reached, then closed at its trailing stop in front of the entry |
| EURAUD | H4 | SELL | 1.61035 | Targets 1 and 2 reached, then closed at its trailing stop 214.6 pips in front of the entry |

GBPNZD is the clean one. It printed at 05:00 yesterday, right before we published, and it has since climbed to 2.37722. Target 3 at 2.38558 is still open, and the trailing stop at 2.37227 means this ticket can no longer close at a loss if the stop is moved to it.

CADCHF reached Target 1 at 0.59224, then turned. The trailing stop did its job: the ticket closed at the trailing level, in front of where it started. Today CADCHF reads NO TRADE, because the 4 hour has turned DOWN while the daily is still UP. The Swiss franc’s climb to second place on the board is why.

GBPCAD did the same in the other direction. Target 1 at 1.86310 was reached, then a bounce reached the trailing stop, which by then sat below the entry. The verdict is still SELL, and the panel is waiting for the next ticket.
Yesterday’s Pick Of The Day: EURAUD Turned

In yesterday’s EUR AUD forecast we asked whether it was too late to sell EURAUD after 300 pips. Overnight, EURAUD bounced from below 1.5800 to above 1.5950.
Here is what that bounce did to the four tickets.
- The 4 hour sell from 1.61035 had already reached Targets 1 and 2. It closed at its trailing stop at 1.58889, 214.6 pips in front of the entry.
- The 1 hour and 30 minute sells had each reached Target 1, then closed at their trailing stops.
- The 15 minute sell from 1.57943, the freshest ticket, reached no target and closed at its trailing stop.
Today every EURAUD timeframe reads NO TRADE. The 4 hour has turned UP, the daily is still DOWN, and the panel stands aside until they agree.
This is exactly why yesterday’s post said not to chase an old ticket. The direction held for ten days, the bounce came, and the trailing stops protected most of the move.
2. Strongest And Weakest Currencies Today
| Group | Currencies |
|---|---|
| Strongest | CAD, then CHF, then GBP |
| Middle | AUD and JPY |
| Weakest | USD, then EUR and NZD |
Pairing the three strongest with the three weakest gives nine pairs worth watching:
USDCAD, USDCHF, GBPUSD, EURCAD, EURCHF, EURGBP, NZDCAD, NZDCHF and GBPNZD.
On the Direction Sniper board, all nine point the way the ranking says they should. Three have a ticket ready right now: USDCAD, GBPUSD and GBPNZD.
If you have seen a different ranking on another site today, that is normal. We explain why in our guide to why a currency strength meter can disagree with another one.
3. The Live Tickets Today
| Pair | Chart | Direction | Entry | Stop | Targets | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| USDCAD | H1 | SELL | 1.39710 (29 Oct 19:00) | 1.39978 trailing | 1.39372, 1.39035, 1.38697 | Running, near entry |
| GBPUSD | H1 | BUY | 1.33559 (29 Oct 17:00) | 1.33508 trailing | 1.34041, 1.34524, 1.35006 | Target 1 reached |
| GBPNZD | M30 | BUY | 2.37683 (30 Oct 00:30) | 2.37272 | 2.38094, 2.38505, 2.38916 | Target 1 reached |
| GBPNZD | H1 | BUY | 2.36991 (29 Oct 05:00) | 2.37227 trailing | 2.37513, 2.38036, 2.38558 | Targets 1 and 2 reached |
Every one of them is on the side of the ranking: a buy on a strong currency or a sell on a weak one.
4. Pick Of The Day: USDCAD

If you came here looking for the best forex pair to trade today, this is how we narrow it down. Our pick puts the strongest currency on the board against the weakest: USDCAD.
On the 1 hour chart, USDCAD climbed from around 1.3975 on 23 October to near 1.4070 on 28 October. Since then it has fallen back below 1.3970, and every bounce on the way down has stopped below the one before it.
Every timeframe on the panel agrees.
| Chart | Reads |
|---|---|
| M15 | DOWN |
| M30 | DOWN |
| H1 | DOWN |
| H4 | DOWN |
| Daily | DOWN |
The status line reads Sell on M15, M30, H1, H4.
The sell ticket printed on 29 October at 19:00 at 1.39710, with a risk of 33.8 pips. USDCAD is at 1.39685, just 2.5 pips below the entry.
- Trailing stop: 1.39978
- Target 1: 1.39372
- Target 2: 1.39035
- Target 3: 1.38697
No target has been reached yet, so this is the freshest strong against weak ticket on the board. It is the pair we are watching most closely today, not a trade recommendation. For every USDCAD timeframe and the full plan, read today’s USD CAD forecast.
5. GBPUSD And GBPNZD: The Pound On Both Sides
GBPUSD: Target 1 Reached On The Dollar’s Weakness

On the 1 hour chart, GBPUSD fell to around 1.3275 on 28 October, then turned sharply higher. The buy ticket printed on 29 October at 17:00 at 1.33559, and Target 1 at 1.34041 has been reached.
GBPUSD is now 1.33921. The trailing stop has moved up to 1.33508, just 5.1 pips behind the entry, and every timeframe reads UP. Target 2 at 1.34524 and Target 3 at 1.35006 are still open.
GBPNZD: A Second Ticket On The Same Trend

Alongside yesterday’s 1 hour ticket, a 30 minute buy printed at 00:30 this morning at 2.37683. It reached Target 1 at 2.38094 within hours, then dipped back to 2.37623, just below its entry.
The 15 minute chart reads DOWN, a small pullback. The 30 minute, 1 hour, 4 hour and daily all read UP, and the status line reads Buy on M30, H1, H4.
6. US Dollar Today: MIXED
The US dollar is the world’s reserve currency, so every day we check whether it is leading the market or sitting out. We read all seven dollar pairs on the board, then check gold to see whether it agrees.
| Pair | Panel | What it says about the dollar |
|---|---|---|
| GBPUSD | BUY | Weaker than the pound |
| AUDUSD | BUY | Weaker than the Australian dollar |
| NZDUSD | BUY | Weaker than the New Zealand dollar |
| USDCAD | SELL | Weaker than the Canadian dollar |
| USDCHF | SELL | Weaker than the Swiss franc |
| USDJPY | SELL | Weaker than the yen |
| EURUSD | Stand aside | No clear edge |
On forex, the dollar is weaker on six of seven pairs, and stronger on none. On its own, that is as weak as the dollar gets on our board.
But gold disagrees. Gold reads SELL, and a falling gold price normally goes with a firm dollar, not a weak one. So our verdict is MIXED: the dollar is weak against currencies, while gold is being sold for its own reasons.
When the dollar and gold stop moving opposite each other, the usual rules of thumb stop working. Trade the pairs the board points to, and do not assume gold will rescue a dollar trade, or the other way round.
7. Gold Check: Gold And Silver Both Read SELL

Yesterday gold read NO TRADE, because its 4 hour pointed up while its daily pointed down. Overnight the 4 hour turned DOWN to join the daily, and every gold timeframe now reads SELL. That is what multi timeframe analysis for gold looks like when the two charts that decide direction finally agree.
The 1 hour sell ticket printed on 29 October at 08:00 at 4024.79. Gold is at 4002.36, 22.43 points below the entry. Target 1 is 3974.35, and the trailing stop sits at 4030.72.

Silver is further along. Its 30 minute sell from 53.096 has reached Target 1 at 51.962, and silver is now 51.399. The trailing stop has moved to 52.357, 73.9 cents in front of the entry.
For both metals in full, read today’s gold and silver price forecast.
8. Before You Act: Check The Numbers, Then The Size
A live ticket is only useful if the numbers still make sense from where price is now.
1. Where is price against the entry? USDCAD is 2.5 pips below its entry, close to the plan as printed.
2. How much room is left? From 1.39685, the USDCAD trailing stop is 29.3 pips away and Target 1 is 31.3 pips away. That is roughly even to Target 1, with two more targets beyond it.
3. How old is it? GBPUSD has already reached Target 1, so anyone arriving now is not getting the ticket as printed. From 1.33921, its trailing stop is 41.3 pips away and Target 2 is 60.3 pips away.
4. It is Friday. A ticket still open when the market closes for the weekend can open on Monday beyond its stop. If you hold over the weekend, size for that, or decide before the close whether to hold at all.
Every ticket gets the same risk. We risk at most 2 percent per trade, usually 0.5 percent, and that does not change because a currency is at the bottom of the board.
USDCAD is quoted in Canadian dollars, so one pip on a standard lot is 10 Canadian dollars, roughly $7.16 with USDCAD near 1.3970. Check the exact figure on your platform. From today’s price to the trailing stop is 29.3 pips, so $50 of risk is about 0.24 lots. To work out your own size in seconds, use our free USDCAD Lot Size Calculator.
On a small account, a cent account makes sizes like that possible. For small balances we recommend a RoboForex Cent account or an XM Micro account. These are partner links, so we may receive a commission at no cost to you.
If you are worrying about every trade, your lot size is still too big.
Published Yesterday, Checked Today
Put the two days together.
Yesterday’s fresh GBPNZD ticket reached two targets. CADCHF and GBPCAD each reached Target 1, and their trailing stops closed them in front of where they started. And when yesterday’s pick, EURAUD, finally bounced, the 4 hour ticket closed 214.6 pips in front of its entry, and the panel moved to NO TRADE.
That is Direction Sniper:
- Direction. One verdict from the 4 hour and the daily. Today every strong against weak pair points the way the ranking says.
- Rallies and bounces that have not broken structure. EURAUD’s bounce turned the 4 hour, so the panel stepped aside instead of selling into it.
- The stop loss. Every ticket arrives with its stop and three targets marked, and the trailing stop level shows you when a ticket can no longer close at a loss.
The 28 Pair Edition puts this panel on every pair in today’s ranking, MT4 or MT5, on one licence, so you see these tickets the moment they print.

Currency Strength Today: Frequently Asked Questions
Updated 30 October 2026. Levels are as shown on the Direction Sniper panel at the time of writing.
1What is the currency strength today, 30 October 2026?+
The Canadian dollar is the strongest currency on our board today, followed by the Swiss franc and the British pound. The US dollar is the weakest, followed by the euro and the New Zealand dollar.
The Australian dollar and the Japanese yen sit in the middle. This is a snapshot, not a forecast.
2What changed in currency strength since 29 October 2026?+
The US dollar fell from the middle of the board to the bottom, the Australian dollar fell from the top to the middle, and the Swiss franc climbed to second place.
The Canadian dollar stayed the strongest currency on both days.
3How did yesterday’s currency strength tickets do?+
The GBPNZD H1 BUY from 2.36991 reached Target 1 and Target 2 and is still running. The CADCHF and GBPCAD tickets each reached Target 1, then closed at their trailing stops in front of their entries.
Yesterday’s Pick of the Day, EURAUD, bounced. Its 4 hour sell closed at its trailing stop 214.6 pips in front of the entry, and EURAUD now reads NO TRADE. Price reaching a published target level is not the same as a realised result.
4What is the best forex pair to watch today?+
USDCAD, because it puts the strongest currency on the board against the weakest, and every timeframe reads DOWN. The 1 hour SELL ticket printed at 1.39710 with a trailing stop at 1.39978 and targets at 1.39372, 1.39035 and 1.38697.
This is the pair we are watching most closely, not a trade recommendation.
5Is the US dollar strong or weak today?+
MIXED. On forex the dollar is weaker on six of its seven pairs and stronger on none, which is as weak as it gets on our board.
But gold reads SELL, and a falling gold price normally goes with a firm dollar, so the two disagree. The dollar is weak against currencies while gold is being sold for its own reasons.
6Why is gold falling when the dollar is weak?+
Gold’s 4 hour chart turned DOWN overnight to join its daily, so every gold timeframe now reads SELL, even though the dollar is weak against currencies.
When gold and the dollar stop moving opposite each other, trade what each chart shows rather than assuming one will follow the other.
7What should I watch before trading on a Friday?+
A ticket still open when the market closes for the weekend can open on Monday beyond its stop. Size for that, or decide before the close whether to hold at all.
We risk at most 2 percent per trade, usually 0.5 percent. On USDCAD, with 29.3 pips to the trailing stop, $50 of risk is about 0.24 lots. These figures are arithmetic for illustration, not a recommendation.
8Does Direction Sniper move my stop loss for me?+
No. Direction Sniper calculates the trailing stop level and shows it on your chart as the trade develops.
You move the stop on your own order to match it.

Disclaimer: This post reports what the Direction Sniper panel showed on USDCAD, GBPUSD, GBPNZD, CADCHF, GBPCAD, EURAUD, XAUUSD and XAGUSD on 29 and 30 October 2026. The tickets were running at the time of writing, and prices will have moved by the time you read this. It is educational analysis, not financial advice and not a trade signal service, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell. Price reaching a published target level is not the same as a realised result. A target shown as reached means price touched that level on the chart, and does not describe anyone’s trade. High and low levels, and the levels where closed tickets ended, are approximate readings from the chart. Pip values and lot sizes are arithmetic for illustration, depend on the exchange rate, and are not a recommendation about how much anyone should trade. Forex trading carries risk, and you should only trade money you can afford to lose.
