Gold and Silver Price Forecast Today, 30 October 2026: The Dollar Is Weak, So Why Are Both Metals Falling?
This gold and silver price forecast today starts with a puzzle.
In today’s currency strength today read, the US dollar is the weakest of the eight major currencies. It is weaker than six of the seven currencies it trades against. Normally, a weak dollar helps gold.
Not today. Gold and silver both read SELL on every timeframe on the Direction Sniper panel, from the 15 minute to the daily. Silver is at the lowest level on its 4 hour chart this month.
Here is what each chart shows, and why the panel does not need to know the reason.
1. The Board: Both Metals, One Direction
Gold (XAUUSD)
| Chart | Entry | Signal time | Risk | Targets reached | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| H4 | 4007.13 | 29 Oct 20:00 | 69.14 points | 0 of 3 | Running |
| H1 | 4024.79 | 29 Oct 08:00 | 50.44 points | 0 of 3 | Running |
| M30 | 4024.79 | 29 Oct 08:00 | 40.35 points | 0 of 3 | Closed at trailing stop |
| M15 | 4010.97 | 30 Oct 01:45 | 17.17 points | 0 of 3 | Running |
Silver (XAGUSD)
| Chart | Entry | Signal time | Risk | Targets reached | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| H4 | 52.799 | 29 Oct 08:00 | $1.696 | 0 of 3 | Running |
| H1 | 53.379 | 29 Oct 03:00 | $0.951 | 0 of 3 | Closed at stop loss |
| M30 | 53.096 | 29 Oct 05:30 | $1.134 | 1 of 3 | Running |
| M15 | 52.381 | 29 Oct 14:00 | $0.583 | 0 of 3 | Closed at trailing stop |
The 4 hour and the daily read DOWN on both metals, so the direction is settled. Five tickets are still running. Three have closed, and they show why the entry chart you pick matters as much as the direction.
2. Gold Technical Analysis Today: The 4 Hour

On the 4 hour chart, gold spent the first half of October between roughly 4100 and 4215. On 21 and 22 October it broke lower, falling to around 3985.
Then came a bounce to around 4080 on 28 October. On the chart, it could have looked like gold was getting ready to climb back into its old range. The panel never treated it that way. The daily stayed DOWN, and once the 4 hour turned back, the sell ticket printed on 29 October at 20:00 at 4007.13.
Gold is now 3997.06, about 10 points below that entry.
- Trailing stop: 4074.25
- Target 1: 3937.99
- Target 2: 3868.85
- Target 3: 3799.71
That bounce to 4080 is the kind of move Direction Sniper is built to see through. A rally that does not turn the bigger charts is a rally inside the trend, not a new one. We explain how the 4 hour and the daily decide gold’s direction in our guide to multi timeframe analysis for gold.
3. Gold On The Faster Charts
The 1 Hour

The 1 hour sell printed on 29 October at 08:00 at 4024.79, after gold failed to hold above 4080 the evening before. Gold is now 3997.49, 27.30 points below the entry.
Its trailing stop has come down to 4030.72, just 5.93 points behind the entry, so almost all of its original risk is gone.
- Target 1: 3974.35
- Target 2: 3923.92
- Target 3: 3873.48
The 30 Minute: Right Direction, Closed Anyway

The 30 minute sell printed at the same time and price as the 1 hour, 4024.79. But it was working on a tighter stop. A bounce reached its trailing stop at 4034.27, and the ticket closed 9.48 points behind the entry, before Target 1. That is about a quarter of its original risk.
Same direction, same entry, different chart, different result. That is why every ticket is sized for its own stop.
The 15 Minute

The newest gold ticket printed at 01:45 this morning at 4010.97. Gold is now 3997.74, 13.23 points below the entry, and less than 4 points above Target 1 at 3993.80.
Its trailing stop sits at 4016.55. Target 2 is 3976.62 and Target 3 is 3959.45.
4. Silver Price Forecast Today

Silver has fallen harder than gold. On the 4 hour chart it was near 61.50 in early October. It dropped to around 55.50 by 14 October, bounced to around 58, then broke lower again on 21 and 22 October.
The last bounce reached around 54.50 on 28 October. The 4 hour sell printed on 29 October at 08:00 at 52.799, and silver is now 51.334, $1.465 below the entry and just 23 cents above Target 1 at 51.103.
- Stop loss: 54.495
- Target 1: 51.103
- Target 2: 49.406
- Target 3: 47.710
The 30 Minute: Target 1 Reached

The 30 minute sell printed on 29 October at 05:30 at 53.096. Target 1 at 51.962 has been reached, and silver is now 51.306.
The trailing stop has moved down to 52.357, 73.9 cents in front of the entry. If the stop is moved to that level, this ticket can no longer close at a loss. Target 2 is 50.827 and Target 3 is 49.693.
The 1 Hour And 15 Minute: Two Closed Tickets
Not every silver ticket made it. The 1 hour sell from 53.379 closed at its stop loss at 54.330. The 15 minute sell from 52.381 closed at its trailing stop at 52.751, before Target 1.
Both charts still read DOWN. The panel is waiting for the next ticket on each.
5. Why Are Gold And Silver Falling When The Dollar Is Weak?
Gold and the dollar usually move in opposite directions, because gold is priced in dollars. A weaker dollar normally makes gold cheaper for everyone else, and that tends to lift the price.
Today that relationship has broken. The dollar is weak against currencies, and gold is falling anyway. In our currency strength read, that is why US Dollar Today reads MIXED rather than WEAK.
We do not know why the metals are being sold, and the panel does not need to know. Direction Sniper does not read news or headlines. It reads the trend on the 4 hour and the daily, and both say DOWN.
That is the lesson for today. If you trade gold on a rule of thumb, like “a weak dollar means gold goes up”, today would have put you on the wrong side. If you trade gold on its own trend, you are on the side of what price is actually doing.
6. Which Ticket Still Makes Sense Today?
The direction is not the question. The question for a trader arriving today is room: how far is the stop, and how far is the next target, from where price is now?
| Ticket | Distance to its stop | Distance to its next target |
|---|---|---|
| Gold H4 | 76.75 points | 59.51 points to Target 1 |
| Gold H1 | 33.22 points | 23.15 points to Target 1 |
| Gold M15 | 19.05 points | 3.70 points to Target 1 |
| Silver H4 | $3.185 | $0.207 to Target 1 |
| Silver M30 | $1.047 | $0.483 to Target 2 |
Distances are from gold at 3997.50 and silver at 51.31.
Look at the silver 4 hour line. Its first target is 21 cents away and its stop is more than $3 away. That ticket is nearly done with its first job. Starting it now would mean risking $3 to reach 21 cents.
The gold 1 hour is closer to a fresh plan, with its stop and Target 1 a similar distance away. The gold 15 minute is almost at Target 1, so it suits someone already in the trade more than someone arriving now.
These are the markets we are watching, not trade recommendations.
7. It Is Friday: Plan For The Weekend
Five tickets are still running, and the market closes for the weekend tonight.
Gold and silver can move sharply on weekend news, and a ticket left open can open on Monday beyond its stop. If you hold a position over the weekend, size for that gap. Or decide before the close whether to hold at all.
8. Same Risk, Very Different Lot Sizes
Every ticket gets the same risk. We risk at most 2 percent per trade, usually 0.5 percent, so on a $10,000 account that is $50, whichever metal and whichever chart.
On most platforms, one standard lot of gold is 100 ounces, so a 1 point move is $100 per lot. One standard lot of silver is usually 5,000 ounces, so a 1 cent move is $50 per lot. Check the contract size on your platform.
- Gold 1 hour from today’s price: a 33.22 point stop, so $50 of risk is about 0.015 lots.
- Gold 4 hour from today’s price: a 76.75 point stop, so the same $50 is about 0.0065 lots.
- Silver 30 minute from today’s price: a $1.047 stop, so $50 of risk is about 0.01 lots.
Look at those numbers. On a $10,000 account, the right size for a gold 4 hour ticket is smaller than the smallest lot most standard accounts allow. That is not a reason to round up. Rounding up is how traders end up far too big on gold without noticing.
A wider stop does not mean more risk. It means a smaller lot. To work out your own size in seconds, use our free Gold and Silver Lot Size Calculator.
On a small account, a cent account makes sizes like these possible. For small balances we recommend a RoboForex Cent account or an XM Micro account. These are partner links, so we may receive a commission at no cost to you.
If you are worrying about every trade, your lot size is still too big.
9. What Would Change The Picture
The verdict stays SELL on each metal while its 4 hour and daily both read DOWN.
What would keep the tickets moving: gold breaking below the 22 October low around 3985, and silver breaking below its 4 hour Target 1 at 51.103.
What would change the verdict: the 4 hour turning UP. If the 4 hour turned UP while the daily stayed DOWN, the panel would move to NO TRADE and stand aside. That is what happened to gold yesterday, before the 4 hour turned back down overnight.
Levels to watch, read from the chart:
- Gold: the 22 October low around 3985, and the 28 October high around 4080
- Silver: the 4 hour Target 1 at 51.103, and the 28 October high around 54.50
Right Direction, Right Size
Put the board together.
The dollar is the weakest currency on our board, and gold and silver are falling anyway. Every timeframe on both metals reads DOWN. Five tickets are running, silver’s 30 minute has reached Target 1, and gold’s 15 minute is within 4 points of it.
That is Direction Sniper:
- Direction. One verdict from the 4 hour and the daily. On both metals today it reads SELL, whatever the dollar is doing.
- Rallies and bounces that have not broken structure. Gold’s bounce to 4080 on 28 October looked like a recovery. The daily never turned, and the sell tickets followed.
- The stop loss. Every ticket arrives with its stop and three targets marked, and the trailing stop level shows you when a ticket can no longer close at a loss.

Gold and Silver Price Forecast Today: Frequently Asked Questions
Updated 30 October 2026. Levels are as shown on the Direction Sniper panel at the time of writing.
1What is the gold and silver price forecast today, 30 October 2026?+
The Direction Sniper panel reads SELL on both gold and silver on every timeframe, from the 15 minute to the daily.
Gold was around 3997.06 and silver around 51.334 at the time of writing. Five tickets were running across the two metals.
2Why is gold falling when the US dollar is weak?+
Gold usually moves opposite the dollar, but on 30 October 2026 both fell together. The dollar was the weakest of the eight major currencies, and gold still read SELL.
Direction Sniper does not read news or headlines. It reads the trend on the 4 hour and the daily, and on gold both read DOWN.
3Which silver targets have been reached?+
The silver 30 minute sell from 53.096 reached Target 1 at 51.962. Its trailing stop level is now 52.357, 73.9 cents in front of the entry.
The silver 4 hour sell from 52.799 was just 23 cents above its Target 1 at 51.103. Price reaching a published target level is not the same as a realised result.
4Is it too late to sell silver?+
The direction is not the problem, but the room is. From 51.31, the silver 4 hour ticket has its stop more than $3 away and its Target 1 only 21 cents away.
A ticket that is nearly done with its first job is one to manage, not one to start. These are the markets we are watching, not trade recommendations.
5Why did the gold 30 minute ticket close when the 1 hour is still running?+
Both printed at 4024.79, but the 30 minute worked on a tighter stop. A bounce reached its trailing stop at 4034.27, and it closed 9.48 points behind the entry, before Target 1.
Same direction, same entry, different chart, different result. That is why every ticket is sized for its own stop.
6What would change the gold and silver verdict?+
The verdict only changes if the 4 hour turns UP. If the 4 hour turned UP while the daily stayed DOWN, the panel would move to NO TRADE and stand aside.
Levels to watch are gold’s 22 October low around 3985 and 28 October high around 4080, and silver’s 4 hour Target 1 at 51.103.
7What lot size should I use on gold and silver?+
We risk at most 2 percent per trade, usually 0.5 percent, which is $50 on a $10,000 account. With gold at $100 per point per standard lot, a 33.22 point stop is about 0.015 lots. With silver at $50 per cent per standard lot, a $1.047 stop is about 0.01 lots.
Use the Gold and Silver Lot Size Calculator to work out your own size, and check the contract size on your platform. These figures are arithmetic for illustration, not a recommendation about how much anyone should trade.
8Does Direction Sniper move my stop loss for me?+
No. Direction Sniper calculates the trailing stop level and shows it on your chart as the trade develops.
You move the stop on your own order to match it.
