Gold and Silver Price Forecast Today, 23 October 2026: Gold Tests 4,000. The Second Entry Reached All Three Targets

Gold and Silver Price Forecast Today, 23 October 2026: Gold Tests 4,000. The Second Entry Reached All Three Targets

This gold and silver price forecast today is the second half of yesterday’s story.

In yesterday’s gold and silver forecast a spike had just closed three gold tickets. The 4 hour and the daily never turned, so the Direction Sniper panel sold gold again, at 4113.28, within 16 cents of the tickets the spike had closed. When we wrote that post, it had reached its first target.

Overnight, it reached all three.

Gold fell to around 3990, briefly testing below the 4,000 round number, before coming back above it to around 4008. That is roughly 155 below the spike high.

Silver kept going too. Six more silver targets were reached, two silver tickets completed their whole plan, and a fresh 15 minute ticket has already reached its first target.

Since yesterday’s post, eight more targets on the two metals. Since the spike, fourteen.

1. Gold: The Second Entry Reached All Three Targets

XAUUSD H1 panel, All targets reached

Level
Entry, sell 4113.28 (22 Oct 04:00)
Stop 4144.13, so 30.85 of risk
Target 1 4082.43, reached
Target 2 4051.58, reached
Target 3 4020.73, reached
Trailing stop at the end 4097.15

Status: All targets reached. From entry to Target 3 is 92.55, three times the distance the ticket risked. Its trailing level finished 16.13 in front of the entry.

Read that entry price again. This is the ticket that printed a few hours after a spike had closed three gold sells at 4113.44. Most traders who had just been stopped out were not looking at the chart any more. The panel was, because the 4 hour and the daily still said SELL.

2. Silver: Six More Targets, And A Fresh 15 Minute Ticket

XAGUSD H4 panel, Target 1 HIT

Silver fell from around 58.0 on 21 October to around 53.6 overnight, more than four dollars.

XAGUSD H1 panel, All targets reached

XAGUSD M30 panel, All targets reached

Chart Entry Risk Targets State
H1 57.101 (22 Oct 05:00) 0.880 56.221, 55.341, 54.462 All targets reached, trail 1.385 in front
M30 57.101 (22 Oct 05:00) 0.966 56.135, 55.169, 54.203 All targets reached, trail 2.260 in front
H4 56.349 (22 Oct 08:00) 1.707 54.642 reached, 52.936, 51.229 Running, label still STOP LOSS

Yesterday the 1 hour and 30 minute had each reached Target 1. Today both reached Targets 2 and 3, and the fresh 4 hour sell from yesterday morning reached its first target.

XAGUSD M15 PANEL

Then the panel lined up again. At 04:15 on 23 October the 15 minute printed a new sell at 54.221, with a stop 0.499 above.

  • Target 1 at 53.722: reached
  • Target 2 at 53.223
  • Target 3 at 52.724

Its trailing level has tightened to 54.277, which is still 0.056 behind the entry. It is a few hours old.

3. The Honest Part: The Tickets The Spike Closed

XAUUSD M30 panel, Closed at stop loss

Here is the part that stings, and we publish it anyway.

The three gold tickets the spike closed on 21 October were all selling in the right direction:

Chart Entry How it closed Target 3 sat at
H4 4141.05 Trailing stop, 2.35 behind entry 3994.20
M30 4113.44 Stop loss 4032.23
M15 4113.44 Stop loss 4031.79

Since then, gold has traded through the levels where every one of their targets had sat. Those tickets were closed, so none of that counts for them. Right direction, and not enough room for the spike.

That is trading. Some correct reads get stopped out first. What matters is what happens next.

4. A Stop Loss Is The Price Of Being There For The Next Ticket

Put two traders side by side through these two days.

Trader one risks 0.5 percent per ticket. The spike closes the gold 15 minute and 30 minute at their stops. That costs about 1 percent of the account together, and the 4 hour closes almost at its entry. Annoying, but the account barely notices. A few hours later the panel sells again at 4113.28, and trader one is calm enough, and funded enough, to take it.

Trader two risks 5 percent per ticket. The same spike costs about 10 percent of the account in one move. Trader two is angry, shaken, and either done for the week or about to double up to win it back. Either way, the ticket that went on to reach all three targets is not one trader two is in any state to trade well.

Same chart. Same panel. Same direction. The difference was the size.

A stop loss is the price of being there for the next ticket. Keep the price small, and you are always there.

At 0.5 percent of a $10,000 account, which is $50 of risk:

  • Gold H1, a 30.85 stop: gold trades in lots of 100 ounces, so about $100 per $1 move per lot. That is about 0.016 lots
  • Silver M15, a 0.499 stop: silver trades in lots of 5,000 ounces, so about $5,000 per $1 move per lot. That is about 0.020 lots

On a small account those sizes fall below most brokers’ 0.01 minimum. A cent account fixes that, because lots are measured in hundredths of a standard lot. For small balances we recommend a RoboForex Cent account or an XM Micro account. These are partner links, so we may receive a commission at no cost to you.

We risk at most 2 percent per trade, usually 0.5 percent. If you are worrying about every trade, your lot size is still too big.

5. Gold Tests 4,000: What To Watch

Gold dipped to around 3990 and came back above 4,000. Round numbers often see a reaction, and the first bounce after a long fall is common.

Gold: every timeframe still reads DOWN, so the verdict is SELL. But every gold ticket on the board has now finished, either completed or closed. There is no open gold ticket right now. The next one needs a bounce, then a faster chart turning back DOWN to line up with the verdict. After a big fall, the first bounce is not a new trend. We showed the same thing on EURJPY today.

Silver: the status reads Sell on M15, M30, H1, H4. The levels that matter:

  • The 15 minute trailing stop at 54.277, the closest level above price
  • The 4 hour stop at 58.056, still at its original level
  • The next targets below: 53.223 on the 15 minute, and 52.936 on the 4 hour

What would change the picture: on either metal, if the 4 hour turned UP while the daily stayed DOWN, the verdict would move to NO TRADE and the panel would stop looking for sells.

Nobody knows how far the bounce goes. The panel shows you which charts have turned, and which have not.

The Ticket After The Stop Loss

Put the two days together.

A spike closed three gold tickets. The 4 hour and daily never turned, so the panel sold again at almost the same price. That ticket has now reached all three targets. Across both metals, fourteen targets have been reached since the spike, and two silver tickets completed their whole plan today.

That is what Direction Sniper does for a gold or silver trader:

  • Direction. One verdict from the 4 hour and the daily. Through the spike, the bounce and the fall to 4,000, it never stopped saying SELL.
  • Rallies that have not broken structure. A spike or a bounce turns the fast charts first. The panel shows whether the big charts turned too, so a spike does not chase you out of the direction.
  • The stop loss. Every ticket arrives with its stop marked, so you can size it small enough that one stop out never costs you the next ticket.

The Gold and Silver Edition puts this exact panel on XAUUSD and XAGUSD, MT4 or MT5, on one licence.

Gold and Silver Price Forecast Today: Frequently Asked Questions

What is the gold and silver price forecast today, 23 October 2026?

The Direction Sniper panel reads SELL on both gold and silver, because the 4 hour and the daily point down on both metals.

Gold dipped to around 3990, briefly testing below 4,000, then came back above it to around 4008. Silver fell to around 53.6 and was around 53.79 at the time of writing.

Did the gold second entry reach its targets?

Yes. The gold 1 hour sold at 4113.28 on 22 October at 04:00, within 16 cents of the tickets a spike had just closed, with a stop at 4144.13. It reached Target 1 at 4082.43, Target 2 at 4051.58 and Target 3 at 4020.73.

From entry to Target 3 is 92.55, three times the 30.85 it risked. Price reaching a published target level is not the same as a realised result.

How many silver targets were reached on 23 October 2026?

Six more since the 22 October post. The silver 1 hour and 30 minute sells from 57.101 both reached their second and third targets, the 4 hour sell from 56.349 reached Target 1 at 54.642, and a new 15 minute sell from 54.221 reached Target 1 at 53.722.

Across both metals, fourteen targets have been reached since the spike on 21 October.

What happened to the gold tickets the spike closed?

The gold 4 hour from 4141.05 closed at its trailing stop 2.35 behind entry, and the 30 minute and 15 minute from 4113.44 closed at their stop losses. Gold has since traded through the levels where all of their targets had sat.

Those tickets were closed, so passing those levels is not a result for them. They were right about the direction, but the stop did not have enough room for the spike.

Why is a small stop loss important after a spike?

A stop loss is the price of being there for the next ticket. At 0.5 percent per ticket, the two gold stop outs cost about 1 percent together, which leaves the account and the trader ready for the next entry.

At 5 percent per ticket the same spike would cost about 10 percent, and the next ticket, the one that reached all three targets, is much harder to trade well. These are illustrations, not real accounts.

What are the gold and silver levels to watch now?

Gold has no open ticket after all its tickets finished, so a new sell needs a bounce and then a faster chart turning back DOWN. Silver reads Sell on M15, M30, H1, H4, with the 15 minute trailing stop at 54.277 and the 4 hour stop at 58.056.

The next silver targets are 53.223 on the 15 minute and 52.936 on the 4 hour. If the 4 hour turned UP while the daily stayed DOWN, the verdict would move to NO TRADE.

What lot size goes with the gold and silver tickets?

Gold lots are 100 ounces, about $100 per $1 move, so $50 of risk on a 30.85 stop is about 0.016 lots. Silver lots are 5,000 ounces, about $5,000 per $1 move, so $50 of risk on a 0.499 stop is about 0.020 lots.

On a small account a cent account makes those sizes possible. We risk at most 2 percent per trade, usually 0.5 percent. These figures are arithmetic for illustration, not a recommendation about how much anyone should trade.

Disclaimer: This post reports what the Direction Sniper panel showed on gold and silver on 22 and 23 October 2026. It is educational analysis, not financial advice and not a trade signal service. The silver 4 hour and 15 minute tickets were still open at the time of writing. Price reaching a published target level is not the same as a realised result, and passing a level where a closed ticket’s target sat is not a result for that ticket. The two traders in section 4 are illustrations, not real accounts. High and low levels are approximate readings from the chart. Lot sizes are arithmetic for illustration and are not a recommendation about how much anyone should trade. Gold and silver are volatile, trading carries risk, and you should only trade money you can afford to lose.
