Currency Strength This Week, Week Ending 30 October 2026: The Dollar Fell To The Bottom, And Gold Reached All Three Targets
This is our currency strength this week recap, written after the market closed on Friday.
It was the first week of our daily Currency Strength Today reads, and it had a clear story. The Canadian dollar held the top of the board every day. The US dollar started in the middle and finished at the very bottom. And on Friday, the move everyone noticed was in gold and silver, where the 1 hour gold ticket and the 30 minute silver ticket both reached all three of their targets.
Below is how Friday’s picks finished, how the ranking moved through the week, every pick we published and what happened to it, including the ones that did not work, and what to watch when the market opens on Monday.
1. Friday’s Picks, Checked
USDCAD, Our Pick Of The Day: The 4 Hour Is Still Running

On Friday we picked USDCAD, the weakest currency against the strongest, with four sell tickets on the board.
The 4 hour sell from 1.39928 is still running. USDCAD closed the week at 1.39721. Target 1 at 1.39118 has not been reached yet, but the trailing stop has come down from 1.40732 to 1.40075, so the ticket now risks 14.7 pips behind its entry instead of more than 80.
The faster tickets did not last the week. The 15 minute reached Target 1 on Friday morning. Then, late on Friday, USDCAD bounced from around 1.3945, and the 15 minute, 30 minute and 1 hour tickets all closed at their trailing stops. All three entry charts now read UP, so the panel shows Sell on H4 only.
That is a normal end to a Friday. The faster charts react to the last few hours of price. The 4 hour and the daily, which decide the direction, both still read DOWN.
GBPUSD: Target 1 Reached, Closed In Front Of The Entry

The 1 hour buy from 1.33559 reached Target 1 at 1.34041, with GBPUSD climbing as high as around 1.3430 on Friday. When it turned back, the ticket closed at its trailing stop at 1.33741, 18.2 pips in front of the entry.
GBPNZD: Two Targets Reached, Closed 52 Pips In Front

The 1 hour buy from 2.36991 was the cleanest ticket of the week. It reached Target 1 at 2.37513 and Target 2 at 2.38036, then closed at its trailing stop at 2.37511, 52.0 pips in front of the entry.
The 30 minute buy from 2.37683 reached Target 1 at 2.38094 and has since closed. GBPNZD still reads UP on the 4 hour and the daily.
Gold: All Three Targets Reached

This was the move of the week.
On Friday morning we pointed out that the dollar was the weakest currency on the board, and gold was falling anyway. Gold kept falling. The 1 hour sell from 4024.79 reached Target 1 at 3974.35, Target 2 at 3923.92 and Target 3 at 3873.48, a move of 151.31 points from the entry to the last target. Gold closed the week at 3875.89.
The 15 minute printed a fresh sell on Friday afternoon at 3974.55, and that one reached all three of its targets too.

The 4 hour sell from 4007.13 has now reached Target 1 at 3937.99. Target 2 at 3868.85 is less than 8 points below Friday’s close.
Silver: All Three Targets On The 30 Minute

Silver fell even harder. The 30 minute sell from 53.096 reached Target 1 at 51.962, Target 2 at 50.827 and Target 3 at 49.693.

The 4 hour sell from 52.799 reached Target 1 at 51.103 and Target 2 at 49.406. Silver closed the week at 49.105, and Target 3 at 47.710 is still open.

2. How The Ranking Moved This Week
| Day | Strongest 3 | Weakest 3 |
|---|---|---|
| Wednesday | CAD, AUD, GBP | EUR, JPY, CHF |
| Thursday | CAD, AUD, GBP | EUR, JPY, NZD |
| Friday morning | CAD, CHF, GBP | USD, EUR, NZD |
| Friday close | CAD, GBP, CHF | USD, EUR, NZD |
Four moves tell the story of the week.
- The Canadian dollar never left the top. It was the strongest currency on every board we published.
- The US dollar fell from the middle to the bottom. It sat in the middle on Wednesday and Thursday, then dropped to last on Friday and stayed there into the close.
- The Swiss franc went from the bottom to the top three. It was one of the weakest on Wednesday, moved to the middle on Thursday, and climbed to the top three on Friday.
- The Australian dollar and the yen swapped ends with the franc. The Australian dollar dropped from the top three to the middle, and the yen climbed off the bottom.
The euro was the one currency that stayed weak all week. It was on the weak side of every board.
3. Every Pick We Published This Week
| Day | Pick | What happened |
|---|---|---|
| Wednesday | CADCHF H1 BUY | Target 1 reached, then closed at its trailing stop in front of the entry |
| Wednesday | GBPCAD H1 SELL | Target 1 reached, then closed at its trailing stop in front of the entry |
| Wednesday | EURCAD M30 SELL | Closed at its stop after a sharp spike |
| Thursday | EURAUD H4 SELL | Targets 1 and 2 reached, then closed at its trailing stop 214.6 pips in front of the entry |
| Thursday | EURAUD H1 and M30 SELL | Target 1 reached, then closed at their trailing stops |
| Thursday | EURAUD M15 SELL | Closed at its trailing stop before Target 1 |
| Thursday | GBPNZD H1 BUY | Targets 1 and 2 reached, closed 52.0 pips in front of the entry |
| Friday | USDCAD H4 SELL | Running, trailing stop at 1.40075 |
| Friday | USDCAD H1, M30 SELL | Closed at their trailing stops before Target 1 |
| Friday | USDCAD M15 SELL | Target 1 reached, then closed at its trailing stop |
| Friday | GBPUSD H1 BUY | Target 1 reached, closed 18.2 pips in front of the entry |
| Friday | GBPNZD M30 BUY | Target 1 reached, then closed |
| Friday | XAUUSD H1 SELL | All three targets reached |
| Friday | XAGUSD M30 SELL | All three targets reached |
| Friday | XAUUSD H4 SELL | Target 1 reached, still running |
| Friday | XAGUSD H4 SELL | Targets 1 and 2 reached, still running |
Price reaching a published target level is not the same as a realised result. These are the levels the panel showed, not anyone’s trades.
4. The Lesson Of The Week: What The Trailing Stop Did
Look down that table and one pattern repeats.
CADCHF, GBPCAD, GBPUSD, GBPNZD and the EURAUD 4 hour all reached at least Target 1, and then the market turned. In every one of those cases, the ticket closed at its trailing stop in front of the entry, not back at the original stop.
That is the job of the trailing stop. Direction Sniper calculates the level and shows it on the chart as the trade develops, and the trader moves their own stop to match it. Done that way, a ticket that has reached Target 1 can give back some of the move, but it no longer turns into a full loss.
The tickets that did not work, the EURCAD 30 minute and the faster EURAUD and USDCAD tickets, closed before they reached a target. That is normal too. No ranking and no ticket removes risk, which is why the next step matters more than any pick.
5. Size First, Every Week
Every ticket this week had a different stop, from 12.7 pips on the USDCAD 15 minute to more than 140 pips on the EURAUD 4 hour. If you traded them all at the same lot size, the wide ones would have carried more than ten times the risk of the tight ones.
We risk at most 2 percent per trade, usually 0.5 percent. On a $10,000 account, that is $50 per ticket, whatever the stop. A wider stop does not mean more risk. It means a smaller lot. Work out your size in seconds with our free Lot Size Calculator.
On a small account, a cent account makes those sizes possible. For small balances we recommend a RoboForex Cent account or an XM Micro account. These are partner links, so we may receive a commission at no cost to you.
If you are worrying about every trade, your lot size is still too big.
6. What To Watch When The Market Opens
- USDCAD. The 4 hour sell is still running with its trailing stop at 1.40075. The entry charts turned UP on Friday’s bounce. Watch whether they turn back DOWN to join the 4 hour, or whether the bounce reaches the trailing stop.
- The US dollar. It finished the week at the bottom of the board. Watch whether it stays there on Monday, or whether Friday’s drop was the low.
- Gold. The 4 hour has reached Target 1, with Target 2 at 3868.85 less than 8 points below the close. A weekend gap could open either side of it.
- Silver. The 4 hour has reached Targets 1 and 2, with Target 3 at 47.710 still open.
- The euro. Weak on every board this week. If it stays weak, euro pairs against the Canadian dollar and the pound stay on the watch list.
Our next Currency Strength Today read goes out on Monday morning.
One Week, One Panel
Put the week together.
The Canadian dollar led all week, the euro lagged all week, and the US dollar dropped from the middle to the bottom. The strong against weak pairs kept pointing the way the ranking said they should. Gold and silver, which kept falling on a weak dollar day, gave the biggest moves of the week.
That is Direction Sniper:
- Direction. One verdict from the 4 hour and the daily. USDCAD still reads SELL after Friday’s bounce, because those two charts have not turned.
- Rallies and bounces that have not broken structure. Friday’s late USDCAD bounce turned the faster charts UP. It did not turn the verdict.
- The stop loss. Every ticket arrives with its stop and three targets marked, and the trailing stop level showed, again and again this week, when a ticket could no longer close at a loss.

Price reaching a published target level is not the same as a realised result. It does not describe anyone’s trade.
6Why did tickets close in front of the entry?+
Direction Sniper shows a trailing stop level that moves as a trade develops. Once a ticket reaches Target 1, that level usually sits in front of the entry.
If the trader moves their stop to the level, a ticket that later turns back closes in front of the entry instead of at the original stop. The trader moves the stop, not the panel.
7What should I watch when the market opens on Monday?+
USDCAD, where the 4 hour sell is still running with its trailing stop at 1.40075, and the US dollar, which finished the week at the bottom of the board.
On the metals, gold’s 4 hour Target 2 at 3868.85 sat less than 8 points below the close, and silver’s 4 hour Target 3 at 47.710 is still open.
8What lot size should I use?+
We risk at most 2 percent per trade, usually 0.5 percent, which is $50 on a $10,000 account. A wider stop does not mean more risk. It means a smaller lot.
Use the Lot Size Calculator to work out your own size. These figures are for illustration, not a recommendation about how much anyone should trade.

It is educational analysis, not financial advice and not a trade signal service, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell. Price reaching a published target level is not the same as a realised result. A target shown as reached means price touched that level on the chart, and does not describe anyone’s trade. Lot sizes and risk figures are arithmetic for illustration and are not a recommendation about how much anyone should trade. Forex, gold and silver trading carries risk, and you should only trade money you can afford to lose.
